Ecclesfield Park, Sheffield – Gate Refurbishment

“Wow they are looking very different, how many layers/colours of paint came off?!””

David Addenbrooke, Project Officer for Sheffield City Council Projects, Performance & Technical Team, Parks & Countryside

Back in March, we were asked to meet Sheffield City Council at one of their largest parks in Sheffield; Ecclesfield Park. The intention was to look at the possibility of refurbishing, as opposed to replacing, some existing gates at the entrance to the park.

As you can be seen from the before photos, the gates had seen much better days…….

Not to be put off, we were confident that we could take away the gates, have them shot-blasted to remove all dirt and paint (to allow for any repairs to be made) and have new locking mechanisms fitted before having them hot-dip galvanised and powder coated in the colour of choice. New signs were also made during this process at the request of the Council.

As you can see, the finished results look superb, and it’s fair to say the Council were delighted with the outcome. Sometimes it often pays, particularly in these testing times, to consider all options as opposed to just opting for an out and out replacement, which would have cost a lot more than these works eventually did.

Once complete, David Addenbrooke, who is a Project Officer for Sheffield City Council Projects, Performance & Technical Team, Parks & Countryside (who is a big fan of refurbishing as opposed to manufacturing new) said:
